At this time more than ever I do not need to spend my time doing all this. My time is hard to find, as I have to hold down two formal jobs already due to COVID just to keep the business going. So, I do it out of charity and love with the understanding that all of us do NOT have the time to go do our own research. We are busy with our jobs, our daily lives and raising our children. As I am saying this take time and is like a third job.

THE WHITE HOUSE DESCRIBES THE TALKS WITH IRAN AS “POSITIVE AND CONSTRUCTIVE.”
The White House announced that the talks held between the United States and Iran in the Sultanate of Oman were “very positive and constructive,” while the Iranian Foreign Ministry announced the end of the first round of indirect talks and an agreement to hold a second round next week.
The White House confirmed, in a statement on Saturday, that the US President’s Special Envoy to the Middle East, Steve Witkoff, held talks with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, hosted by Omani Foreign Minister Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi. The White House explained that the talks were very positive and constructive, and that Witkoff conveyed to Araghchi US President Donald Trump “instructions” to “resolve issues between the two countries through dialogue and diplomacy.” He noted that the issues between the two countries are complex, and that Witkoff emphasized that direct communication is a step that will bear fruit for both parties.
The two sides will meet again on April 19, he said.

AN EXPECTED NUCLEAR AGREEMENT BETWEEN WASHINGTON AND RIYADH
US Energy Secretary Chris Wright revealed on Monday that the United States will soon announce details of a “historic” nuclear cooperation agreement with Saudi Arabia, stressing that the two sides are in an advanced stage of dialogue regarding the development of civil nuclear energy.
During his current visit to Riyadh, Wright said, “Developing nuclear energy is a priority for Saudi Arabia, which has already demonstrated significant success in this sector.” He noted that the Kingdom possesses significant mineral resources, such as uranium, and aspires to expand its capabilities in the field of peaceful energy.

IRAQ AWAITS ECONOMIC BREAKTHROUGH FOLLOWING US-IRAN AGREEMENT
Amid the successive crises facing Iraq, the national economy stands on the edge of waiting and anticipation, searching for a glimmer of hope that will open windows of relief amid the blocked financial horizon and the tightening noose on the local market.
Amid the anxiety of traders and the fear of consumers, the signs of the anticipated agreement between the United States of America and the Islamic Republic of Iran emerge as an opportunity that may carry within it the features of an economic breakthrough for Iraq, after years of suffering due to sanctions and regional tensions.
With every announcement or hint of progress in the negotiations, Iraqis’ hopes are pinned on the possibility of liberating themselves from the shackles of complex transactions, and that this agreement will transform from a mere political card into a key to facilitating trade, ensuring stability, and protecting what remains of their purchasing power and economic capacity, which has been weakened by regional tensions.
Economic expert Nasser Al-Tamimi confirmed on Monday (April 14, 2025) that the expected agreement between the United States of America and the Islamic Republic of Iran will have economic benefits for Iraq.
STATUS OF THE RV
I first want to clarify yet more nonsense. I never said the RV process would go until 2029. Please stop putting words in my mouth or I will band you from the blog! I do not know why anyone would make such a comment. Also, I am going to delete any comments from the blog when statements are made, whether positive or negative, about the RV without first showing proof. I am open to any new developments but not lies or rumors. We are a factual based blog trying to investigate the revaluation process of the IQD (Iraqi dinar) not an overly speculative group of rumor spreaders. We can not go around lying. It is not going to get us anywhere. Sorry… there are other sites you can go to get your daily dose of bullshit and lies.
You have to understand why I started the blog and my Newsletter. It was to combat all the stupidity and ridiculousness of the lies out there about the RV. How many times must we hear that the lower denominations are out or the IQD is back on FOREX? Yes, catchy headlines to click on with not an ounce of TRUTH in them.
Let’s look at today’s news….
The two main drivers to focus on in today’s news are:
1.The ongoing negotiations between the US and Iran – What will this mean to Iraq if successful? We are talking weeks not months or years;
2.Attracting investors to Iraq and the economy that is about to explode.
Remember that any agreement made during the Trump administration with Iran is NOT just about a nuclear deal, as we have all been so brainwashed already on this subject. The deal must also include advancing the efforts to clean Iraq from the Iranian influence and puppet state status. It must also include dealing with the Iranian mobilization forces leftover from the ISIS war. President Trump will try with Iran to emphasize that working in partnership with the rest of the world and dropping this notion of constant war through terrorism is a waste of resources. Why not have peace and use your wealth for the benefit of your citizens and everyone prospers? Why spend so much of your national treasures on war?
In the three articles shown above we can see that progress is being made with Iran. The negotiations are now underway. What will be the final result? I think we should all pray, pray and pray some more especially during this Holy Week of Easter season for this to go right. We are hoping for a breakthrough soon. Finally resolving this Iranian issue will certainly bring Iraq that much closer to regaining the independence of their dinar, knowing they are no longer a puppet state for Iran.
But I want everyone to remember the negative comments made on my blog that this effort with Iran would take months, if not years to accomplish with Iran. I said really? After all the prophecies I presented to you and all the other news how can anyone make such comments? Are you till sleeping? If you would only learn to use the tools available that can help us understand, such as the prophetic word, you might learn something. I can’t force you to learn. I can’t force you to wake up. Oh… but that takes FAITH! Many even have told me they doubt the prophetic word? Many don’t even believe in God. Really? Look at all the “prophecies fulfilled” I have shown you? Do you think all of this is just coincidental?
The second main focus is about the economy and the signals we are getting that it is being lined up for a major boom in Iraq. I also, consequently, believe that this boom in Iraq will coincide with the boom in the U.S. You see, Iraq is part of the wealth transfer. Oh… But you already knew that? If you do know it then why are you now concerned then what happens in the U.S. too that will impact Iraq? Iraq can’t have the RV unless the U.S. allows it. It is that simple- in a proverbial nutshell.
So, let looks and yet more evidence of this coming economic boom.
😊In the article titled “RAFIDAIN BANK LAUNCHES OBDX SERVICE AFTER ACTIVATING ANTI-MONEY LAUNDERING SYSTEMS” we find that Rafidain Bank announced last Friday, the launch of its online banking service, OBDX (Online Banking Digital Experience), following the activation of anti-money laundering and counter-terrorism financing regulations. This step aims to enhance digital transformation and comply with international standards. “The OBDX service provides an integrated digital banking experience, enabling government agencies to conduct their financial transactions electronically and with the highest levels of security, which contributes to accelerating procedures and reducing reliance on paper transactions.” This goes hand in hand with what the CBI has been telling us all along. That they are digitizing the banking system in Iraq. You would think they already had a similar system in place? I guess not…. Welcome to the 21st century…lol..lol… 😊 Finally!
😊In the article titled “AL-NUSAIRI CONFIRMS THAT THE COMPREHENSIVE BANKING REFORM PROJECT ANNOUNCED BY THE CENTRAL BANK WILL YIELD PROMISING RESULTS”, we find that economic and banking advisor Samir Al-Nusairi confirmed that the banking reform project is successful consistent with the methodology included and adopted in the government program and the Central Bank’s third strategy for the years 2023 and 2024.
It will yield promising results in cooperation with global consulting firms Ernst & Young, K2, and Oliver Wyman to build a transparent information base for comprehensive reform, starting with the banking sector as the first essential link in the economy. Without a sound, solid, and modern banking sector, a strong and robust national economy cannot be built. Al-Nusairi pointed out that among the important initial results achieved is the commencement of the completion of the actual implementation of the plans drawn up during 2025 and 2026 for comprehensive reform, which are summarized in enhancing financial inclusion and achieving stimulating and sustainable returns for shareholders and investors.
If you can remember a decade ago how Iraq tried to get the influx of investors to Iraq and couldn’t. Why was this? We read so many articles about all their investment forums, but nothing really happened afterwards of any real significance. To answer this question we have to go back to the Chapter VII sanctions. Once these sanctions were “fully” lifted in December 2022, it allowed Iraq then to move at a rapid pace to put the final touches on the needed banking reforms. Once the banks are stable, and investors have a real good assure that they money is not going to be stolen (or just disappear) only now does Iraq have that stable environment to attract investors, thus we begin to see them pour in.
😊Take a peak at the news in article titled “MP: JUNE WILL MARK THE END OF DOLLAR SMUGGLING IN IRAQ”. A member of Parliament Majid Shingal confirmed on Sunday that June will witness an end to dollar smuggling operations, noting that strict oversight will be imposed on the funds of companies, politicians, and influential people.” “Our transfers are currently considered dollar smuggling, but the situation is now better. I believe that in June, regular correspondence will be adopted, which will significantly reduce smuggling, and may even lead to its near disappearance.”
If you remember last December 2024, the correspondent bank transfer process was put into effect. This eliminated 95% of fraudulent payments. Ali Al-Alaq told us this was an acceptable level, however the U.S. did not agree. They are now talking about a way to get rid of the other remaining 5%. Back in December Iraq was only working with 4 major correspondent banks. Now they have agreements with dozens. This is how they are able to make this claim. However, this is not the entire story to RV but a piece that needed to be resolved. I just don’t want to lose sight of what is really happening. Please do not bench mark June for an RV! I am not saying this is a target.
😊In the article titled “WITH THE PARTICIPATION OF 1,200 LOCAL AND FOREIGN COMPANIES, THE BABYLON BUSINESS AND INVESTMENT FORUM KICKS OFF” we see yet another investment forum occurring. Will this one be successful? The Business and Investment Forum kicked off in Babil Governorate last Saturday, with the participation of 1,200 local, Arab, and foreign companies, showcasing 450 investment opportunities in various sectors. I believe it is different this time and Iraq will attract investors.

😊So, here is yet another article titled “AL-MASHHADANI TO THE AMERICAN DELEGATION: THE UNITED STATES IS ONE OF IRAQ’S MOST IMPORTANT STRATEGIC PARTNERS”.
Just last week, an economic delegation from the American Chamber of Commerce met at the Presidential Palace in Baghdad, Speaker of the Iraqi Parliament, Mahmoud al-Mashhadani, received the Chargé d’Affaires of the US Embassy in Iraq, Daniel Rubenstein. Rubenstein was accompanied by a large economic delegation from the US Chamber of Commerce, including representatives of 57 American companies, headed by Lotus Steve, and a number of company presidents and investors. The meeting was held as part of the US Chamber of Commerce’s economic conference in Iraq.

😊Here is yet another article on this subject matter which is telling us that even the International Development Bank is willing to invest in Iraq. We usually don’t see this kind of support from a global bank unless there is serious stability in a country’s financial system. The article is titled “TO BOOST THE ECONOMY, THE INTERNATIONAL DEVELOPMENT BANK IS THE OFFICIAL SPONSOR OF THE IRAQI BUSINESS SUMMIT.” The International Development Bank announced its official sponsorship of the Iraqi Business Summit (IBS). The summit will be held on Saturday, April 12, 2025, in Celebration Square-stage Al-Mansour Downtown Baghdad. The summit will be held with broad participation from local and international economic institutions and investment companies. I would have to even call this a “WOW!” article.

😊If all this news about investors potential investors finally pouring into Iraq is not good enough for amazing news, they lets look at the article titled “AN ECONOMIST PROPOSES A WAY TO TRANSFORM IRAQ INTO AN “ACTIVE REGIONAL PLAYER.” An economic expert has proposed a practical way to transform Iraq from what he calls a “field of influence” into a “power” and an “active regional player” in the worlds of politics and economics.
Economic expert, Manar Al-Obaidi, pointed out in a post on his social media account that, “At a time when countries around the world, whether allied or hostile, are rushing to win the favor of the Donald Trump administration. The economic expert believes that “the use of Iraq as a bargaining chip is no longer limited to the Iranian side. Arab and Turkish parties have also entered the fray, and various Iraqi issues are sometimes managed as part of understandings or escalation deals between regional powers and the United States.” Iraq has a rare opportunity to transform from a mere arena of influence into an effective regional player, if it makes good use of its economic tools. One of the most prominent of these possible tools is the proposal to establish an Iraqi-American investment fund, financed by the export revenues of no less than 100,000 barrels of oil per day, sold directly to the United States. These revenues would be allocated exclusively to investment in the American market, forming the nucleus of a sovereign fund capable of generating long-term profits for the Iraqi state.”
According to Al-Obaidi, “developing this fund and enhancing its investments would create mutual economic interest with the United States and transform Iraq into a political force with regional influence, linked by long-term strategic economic relations, rather than remaining a tool in the hands of negotiators at a table to which it is not invited.”
So, if we are smart we don’t even had to read between the lines of what is going on in Iraq. Instead, it is blaring us right in the face. Oh boy! If you can’t see what is coming after today’s Newsletter I can’t help you. Let me explain. It took a business man like Donald Trump to see the potential in Iraq for American companies but also, which is most important, to take advantage of it. But Trump knows that before he can convince American companies to come to Iraq, he must erase the stigma of Iranian influence in Iraq. Do you get it now, why the emphasis on cleaning out Iran from Iraq all of sudden? Do you see why now? This should have been done a decade ago. I will go a step further and say it was through many U.S. administrations and BAD FOREIGH POLICIES filled with corruption that led to Iran entering and abusing Iraq in the first place. Iraq back then counted on the U.S. to help is and it didn’t. Now, like so many other issues, this must be reversed. From my Newsletter today we get a really good clear look at where the Trump foreign policy towards Iraq is going and its all VERY GOOD!
Again, I am going to also bring up the “Development Road Project”, the port of Faw and the interconnected system of roadways and rail lines being constructed throughout Iraq. What the hell do you think this is all for? You can go re-read my Newsletter dated April 3rd in the Archives for more info to refresh your memory.
😊Lastly there is one article that totally shocked me (in a good way). This one is titled “IRAQ INTENDS TO PURCHASE AND MANUFACTURE 23 CRUISE SHIPS”. Really, cruise ships in the desert. The Ministry of Transport intends to contract for the purchase and manufacture of 23 different vessels and boats to support the river transport sector and stimulate its movement locally and internationally as part of a plan to revitalize the sector in the country. The Director General of the Ministry’s General Maritime Transport Company, Ahmed Al-Asadi, said his company intends to contract for the purchase of 15 tourist boats to activate the river taxi project, in conjunction with the Ministry’s plan to develop the Corniche dock in Basra Governorate, which is currently being referred for implementation.
Folks can you see it yet? Come ‘on! This article is the icing on the cake for today’s news. They must have planned this Corniche dock project for a while and are now activating it based on money from the budget. Iraq is planning a vast tourist industry. We already know about the annual pilgrimages to Iraq, as Iraq is considered the cradle of civilization. There are many museums and religious sites to see. The many waterways in Iraq are ideal for this project. I remember Iraq when I was stationed there from my Army days and I always said how nice it would be have peace and to be able to take a quite cruise down one of their lovely many rivers. These rivers include the Tigris River, Euphrates River and other rivers such as Diyala, Little Zab, and Great Zab also flow through the country. My point is the are no longer just riding camels…lol..lol..lol..
So, today I am going to emphasis again that we must be patient and wait. Noone knows the date of the RV. Not even these idiot intel gurus i.e. TNT, Bruce, MarkZ, Frank 26 and an array of others. Our RV is coming but it is all attached to the reinstatement back to FOREX. This is a byproduct of all the reforms.
Iraq is now being methodically pieced back together and the goal is to have a booming economy. Why did it take 20 years? This timespan is based on two issues. One was the corrupt past U.S. adminstrations and the inability due to Chapter VII sanctions still being in place.
What we don’t know is exactly how far they have to go to get the reinstatement. My guess, and this is ONLY a guess is that when this Iranian issue is resolved we can expect wonderful things to occur. Heck… they told us today that by June they will have resolved the dollar crisis. We will not be exchanging at the rate we want until the U.S. says so. In the meantime, we will just have to suck it up and put on our BIG BOY pants and learn about our investment. The more I think about it the more I realize we would not have even wanted this RV during the Obama or Biden administrations anyhow since they would have only found creative ways to only take it from us. That’s what socialist do – Spend and tax, spend and tax.

If you just take a second even to look around you at this past election cycle how ca you deny that God is at work. It is amazing and there is no other way that these events could have happened the way they turned out. But there is more to come, much more! Now that God has his biblical David re-elected we need to pay attention to what He does next.
God told us it will be an “hypnotic November” and turbulent until next June 2025 and so, isn’t it? Was He lying to us? Remember that these globalist have had it too good for too long and are not just going to lay down and let themselves be destroyed. They are going to fight until the very end. If all else fails the will get more and more desperate to overcome the good trying to rebuild and free our nation.
These prophecies today are powerful and I encourage everyone to listen carefully to them. Is there a connection to getting our long-awaited RV? Of course there is, and if you can’t see it yet then just wait and it will become more and more obvious to you how the crooked run U.S. administrations have corrupted Iraq and held it hostage since the 1991 and 2003 wars with the Bush, Obama and Biden administrations. But this control too is going to end and God is going to finally FREE the Iraqi people again.
NOTE: These prophecies just keep getting better and better, giving us HOPE of a bright future. But the real reason why I listen to them is that we can actually see what God says He will do taking place right in front of our noses. It is a confirmation to me that God is real and is still with us forever just as in biblical times.

I find it is good to remember the Stations of the Cross during lent and what our savior did for us. In know many of you may not be Catholics or even Christians but try to take a different approach this Easter. Try to see what all the fuss is about Christ. Put yourself in Christ shoes (or should I say sandals) as an ordinary person in today’s world. You can quickly see that the nature of man has not changed very much and if Christ were born today, many would probably try to crucify him. Have we not learned anything?

MP: JUNE WILL MARK THE END OF DOLLAR SMUGGLING IN IRAQ
Member of Parliament Majid Shingal confirmed on Sunday that June will witness an end to dollar smuggling operations, noting that strict oversight will be imposed on the funds of companies, politicians, and influential people.
Shingal said in a statement monitored by (IQ): “Our transfers are currently considered dollar smuggling, but the situation is now better. I believe that in June, regular correspondence will be adopted, which will significantly reduce smuggling, and may even lead to its near disappearance.”
He noted that “some type of oversight will be imposed on the payment system in Iraq, including knowing who paid, how they paid, and where the money was spent. These processes will be automated to ensure transparency and track expenditures.”
Shingal explained: “The goal of these measures is to reduce the amount of support provided to factions and those loyal to Iran. It is true that reaching zero support is not currently possible, but we are very close to achieving it, and this is the primary goal.” He added, “Another goal is the entry of 60 American companies into the Iraqi market daily, and this is a very positive sign.”
Shingali continued, “I heard that there is a freeze (block) of some politicians’ funds in foreign banks, and this is said, but I do not know how true it is. In the same month, the official audit will begin, and these accounts will be revealed, to whom they belong, and where they were transferred. It is worth noting that these accounts are located in Europe and can be stopped at any moment.”
He concluded by saying, “These politicians always benefit from the money they steal from people in their countries and deposit in foreign banks, but in the end, they get nothing from it. To this day, the former regime’s assets have not been recovered, and there is still money deposited in anonymous bank accounts, frozen in Switzerland and other countries.”

AL-MASHHADANI TO THE AMERICAN DELEGATION: THE UNITED STATES IS ONE OF IRAQ’S MOST IMPORTANT STRATEGIC PARTNERS.
Al-Mashhadani receives US Chargé d’Affaires Daniel Rubenstein and an economic delegation from the American Chamber of Commerce.
On Tuesday, April 8, 2025, at the Presidential Palace in Baghdad, Speaker of the Iraqi Parliament, Mahmoud al-Mashhadani, received the Chargé d’Affaires of the US Embassy in Iraq, Daniel Rubenstein. Rubenstein was accompanied by a large economic delegation from the US Chamber of Commerce, including representatives of 57 American companies, headed by Lotus Steve, and a number of company presidents and investors. The meeting was held as part of the US Chamber of Commerce’s economic conference in Iraq.
Al-Mashhadani affirmed, according to a statement received by Al-Jabal, that “Iraq welcomes all initiatives that contribute to developing its economy and strengthening its international partnerships, particularly with the United States, which represents one of its most important strategic partners in various fields.”
The Speaker of Parliament emphasized “the critical importance of investment in Iraq, particularly in vital and strategic sectors such as oil and electricity, which represent the backbone of the Iraqi economy. He also emphasized the need to stimulate investment in the agricultural and industrial sectors, as well as in service sectors that are vital to the lives of Iraqi citizens, such as the environment, education, and health.”
Al-Mashhadani explained that “the Iraqi Parliament has enacted an investment law that provides a secure and stimulating legal environment for investment, protects investor rights, and encourages transparency and equal opportunities.”
He pointed out that “Parliament, as the ‘house of the people,’ ensures a dignified and safe life for citizens and works closely with the government through effective coordination mechanisms to support development projects and facilitate investment.” He stressed that “the Iraqi Parliament strongly supports the signing of bilateral agreements with friendly countries, which contribute to stimulating economic activity, attracting more foreign investment, and creating new job opportunities that contribute to reducing unemployment and enhancing economic stability.”
According to the statement, Daniel Rubenstein, Chargé d’Affaires at the US Embassy in Baghdad, affirmed “his country’s commitment to supporting Iraq on its path towards economic development and stability, and strengthening partnerships between the American and Iraqi private sectors.”
Lutz Steve, head of the US trade delegation, emphasized that “Iraq represents a promising investment market, and that US companies are looking forward to cooperation opportunities in various sectors, with a focus on creating job opportunities for Iraqi youth and contributing to the development of infrastructure and vital services.”

AL-MASHHADANI STRESSES THE IMPORTANCE OF EXPANDING INVESTMENT HORIZONS IN IRAQ.
Parliament Speaker Mahmoud al-Mashhadani held an expanded meeting today, Tuesday (April 8, 2025), with the head and members of the Independent High Electoral Commission, in the presence of a number of Sunni bloc leaders, to discuss ongoing preparations for the upcoming electoral process.
According to a statement from his media office, received by Baghdad Today, Al-Mashhadani stressed during the meeting the need for concerted national efforts to ensure the integrity and transparency of the elections, emphasizing the importance of creating a safe environment and strengthening confidence in democratic institutions.
The commission presented a detailed presentation on technical and administrative procedures, including updating the voter registry, distributing biometric cards, and securing polling stations. Commission officials noted particular challenges in liberated areas, calling for greater government support to facilitate their work.
For their part, Sunni bloc leaders expressed their full support for the commission, calling for effective guarantees to prevent any manipulation or interference that could affect the election results. They emphasized the need for effective participation by all components to ensure fair representation.

AL-NUSAIRI CONFIRMS THAT THE COMPREHENSIVE BANKING REFORM PROJECT ANNOUNCED BY THE CENTRAL BANK WILL YIELD PROMISING RESULTS.
Economic and banking advisor Samir Al-Nusairi confirmed that the banking reform project announced by the Central Bank is consistent with the methodology included and adopted in the government program and the Central Bank’s third strategy for the years 2023 and 2024.
It will yield promising results in cooperation with global consulting firms Ernst & Young, K2, and Oliver Wyman to build a transparent information base for comprehensive reform, starting with the banking sector as the first essential link in the economy. Without a sound, solid, and modern banking sector, a strong and robust national economy cannot be built.
Al-Nusairi pointed out that among the important initial results achieved is the commencement of the completion of the actual implementation of the plans drawn up during 2025 and 2026 for comprehensive reform, which are summarized in enhancing financial inclusion and achieving stimulating and sustainable returns for shareholders and investors, and the government and the Central Bank leading projects aimed at modernizing the private banking sector and meeting the needs of the transition to a rapidly growing national economy, creating a fair competitive environment in the banking market, and raising the level of private banks’ ability to confront risks and protect depositors and creditors, thus restoring confidence in the banking sector in general, as well as expanding digital transformation procedures, expanding and diversifying banking services and products, and complying with international standards.
Al-Nusairi pointed out that the above objectives, which were discussed yesterday at the Banking Reform Conference, are established as primary and secondary objectives in the Central Bank’s third strategy for the years 2024-2026, and that work is being done on them with a steady, systematic approach, and that the objectives will be achieved in cooperation with Oliver and Eman at an accelerated pace in the years 2025 and 2026.
It is clear that the Central Bank, in cooperation with relevant authorities, will focus on the following: sharing with the private banking sector detailed criteria and timelines for implementing the reform process, activating support channels, and holding workshops to provide technical assistance. The Central Bank of Iraq is fully committed to achieving this transformation by working closely with all relevant stakeholders to pave the way for a strong, resilient, modern, and inclusive financial and banking system.

US FEARS THE POPULAR MOBILIZATION LAW… “IT THREATENS WASHINGTON’S INTERESTS AND CREATES A NEW REVOLUTIONARY GUARD.”
The Washington Institute for Near East Policy called on the US administration, headed by Donald Trump, to send a “calm and firm” message to the Iraqi government regarding the risks of passing a new law related to the Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF), warning that this legislation would transform the PMF into an entity similar to the Iranian Revolutionary Guard.
The institute stated in a report translated by Shafaq News Agency that “the Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) have been considered a threat to US national security interests and Iraqi civilians for years,” noting that “US-designated terrorists hold senior leadership positions within the PMF, including the head of the organization and the chief of staff, exploiting this institutional structure to secure government salaries for tens of thousands of militia members affiliated with designated terrorist groups such as Kata’ib Hezbollah and Asa’ib Ahl al-Haq.”
He considered that “these practices represent blatant manipulation,” noting that “Baghdad is currently studying two legislative projects that could grant the Popular Mobilization Forces greater legitimacy as a national security institution. The first is the Popular Mobilization Forces Service and Retirement Law, which the report described as internally aiming to remove leaders of rival militias. The second, and more important, is the amended Popular Mobilization Forces Authority Law, which restructures the Mobilization Forces within a formal framework resembling a ministerial institution.”
According to the report, passing the new law would consolidate the Popular Mobilization Forces, which number approximately 238,000 members, as a parallel armed force with powers at the local and regional levels. The report emphasized that “the legislation will consolidate the Popular Mobilization Forces’ status as a permanent structure within the Iraqi security sector, not as an emergency force, but rather as a ministry-like institution that would be difficult to reform or dissolve later.”
He also warned that the draft law explicitly refers to the Popular Mobilization Forces as the “guarantor of the political system,” led by Shiite factions since 2003, similar to the role of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps. This weakens the standing and prestige of the Iraqi armed forces and grants the militias broad powers that could include “militarizing the political process, from candidate registration to voting and government formation.”
The report also warned that the legislation could encourage militias to repeat the violence against demonstrators and civil society organizations, as occurred during the 2019 protests, it said.
He called on the Trump administration to act quickly and convey its clear objections to officials in Baghdad, via direct messages to the President, Prime Minister, and Speaker of Parliament, to prevent the bill from being referred to the House of Representatives for ratification. He noted that such a step would not require a significant American effort, but rather a “firm signal behind the scenes.”
He pointed out that the current tense regional situation presents Washington with a powerful opportunity to exert pressure, as the United States is redeploying its forces extensively, while Iraqi militias are keen to remain outside the US targeting circle. This provides Washington with leverage that must be used wisely to prevent “the birth of a new Revolutionary Guard in the heart of the region,” as the report put it.
According to the report, the institute called on decision-makers in the White House and the US embassy in Baghdad to urgently reinforce this message and shift from quiet pressure tools to more vocal ones, including imposing sanctions on the Popular Mobilization Forces as a whole, as Washington previously did with the Iranian Revolutionary Guard.
He explained that “these sanctions will have a broad financial impact within the Iraqi financial system, given that the Popular Mobilization Forces receive their salaries from the Iraqi government.”
The report continued, stating that “early US action to block this legislation would demonstrate the Trump administration’s awareness of the delicate developments in Iraq and its ability to deter Iranian-backed groups without waiting for a military escalation via drones or kidnappings and killings of Americans.”
The report concluded with a recommendation not to be satisfied with warnings, but to take concrete steps, such as imposing immediate sanctions on the General Engineer Company, the economic wing of the Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF), which the report likened to the Khatam al-Anbiya Foundation, the economic conglomerate affiliated with the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps, which has long been subject to international sanctions imposed by the United States, the European Union, and the United Nations.

The Vice President of the US Chamber of Commerce, Steve Lutes, announced that “his country’s companies in the energy and healthcare sectors will visit Baghdad in the coming period,” stressing that “there are tremendous opportunities in Iraq.”
A US delegation arrived in Iraq last Monday, the largest US trade mission ever, comprising representatives from 60 companies across various sectors.
In a statement seen by Al-Masry Al-Youm on Thursday, Lutz said, “The American delegation listened to a speech by Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani regarding relations between Iraq and the United States and ways to develop them.”
He added, “The US economic delegation signed several important agreements with Iraq, some of which were attended by the Iraqi Prime Minister, and this was in coordination with the US Treasury Department.”
Lutz noted that “this visit will be a new spark for developing relations between American economic and business companies and Iraq, especially given the many investment opportunities we seek to capitalize on in light of the long-term partnership with our Iraqi partners.”

AN ECONOMIST PROPOSES A WAY TO TRANSFORM IRAQ INTO AN “ACTIVE REGIONAL PLAYER.”
An economic expert has proposed a practical way to transform Iraq from what he calls a “field of influence” into a “power” and an “active regional player” in the worlds of politics and economics.
Economic expert, Manar Al-Obaidi, pointed out in a post on his social media account that, “At a time when countries around the world, whether allied or hostile, are rushing to win the favor of the Donald Trump administration, realizing that survival lies in distancing themselves from an administration that sees its international relations as nothing more than a means to achieve its own interests, Iraq remains a spectator to this dynamic scene.” He noted that “neighboring countries from north to south and from east to west are making direct offers to the United States, in an attempt to protect their security and stability by securing their national interests, while Iraq is often left as part of the negotiating tools rather than an actual participant in them.”
The economic expert believes that “the use of Iraq as a bargaining chip is no longer limited to the Iranian side. Arab and Turkish parties have also entered the fray, and various Iraqi issues are sometimes managed as part of understandings or escalation deals between regional powers and the United States.”
He said: “Amidst this landscape, Iraq has a rare opportunity to transform from a mere arena of influence into an effective regional player, if it makes good use of its economic tools. One of the most prominent of these possible tools is the proposal to establish an Iraqi-American investment fund, financed by the export revenues of no less than 100,000 barrels of oil per day, sold directly to the United States. These revenues would be allocated exclusively to investment in the American market, forming the nucleus of a sovereign fund capable of generating long-term profits for the Iraqi state.”
According to Al-Obaidi, “developing this fund and enhancing its investments would create mutual economic interest with the United States and transform Iraq into a political force with regional influence, linked by long-term strategic economic relations, rather than remaining a tool in the hands of negotiators at a table to which it is not invited.”

IRAQ INTENDS TO PURCHASE AND MANUFACTURE 23 CRUISE SHIPS
The Ministry of Transport intends to contract for the purchase and manufacture of 23 different vessels and boats to support the river transport sector and stimulate its movement locally and internationally as part of a plan to revitalize the sector in the country.
The Director General of the Ministry’s General Maritime Transport Company, Ahmed Al-Asadi, said his company intends to contract for the purchase of 15 tourist boats to activate the river taxi project, in conjunction with the Ministry’s plan to develop the Corniche dock in Basra Governorate, which is currently being referred for implementation.
He added that his company is planning to build eight new vessels, and has submitted the project to the Cabinet Secretariat to obtain the necessary approvals. He revealed that the company has begun receiving offers from companies for the purpose of joint operation with the company’s fleet for integrated transportation of various types of vessels. He pointed out that the completion of these contracts will complete the transportation mechanism for his company from containers, ships and docks, as it owns shares in a commercial dock and another for oil.
